Privacy Policy for Sugr

Sugr is a product of NextStep Care Systems, Inc. ("NextStep," "we," "us," or "our"). Sugr provides a mobile application that helps people coordinate non-interest repayment agreements and move money with people they trust. Sugr facilitates repayment scheduling and payment processing and does not act as a lender or charge interest.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the Sugr mobile application (the "App").

By using Sugr, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Personal Information

  • Email address
  • Name (if provided)
  • User IDs and account identifiers

Financial & Repayment Information

  • Repayment agreement metadata (such as principal amount, repayment schedule, and status)
  • Transaction history, including disbursements, repayments, timestamps, and transaction status
  • Platform fee records

Sugr does not store bank account numbers, debit card numbers, or login credentials. Bank account verification and payment credentials are handled by third-party service providers.

Automated Payment Authorization

  • Records of user authorization to initiate automatic repayments
  • Payment success or failure events

App Activity

  • App interactions (such as screens viewed and features used)
  • State or location information used to determine product availability and enforce compliance rules

  • Device identifiers (such as app instance IDs)

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the App
  • Create, manage, and display repayment agreements
  • Initiate and process payments and repayments
  • Charge and reconcile the one-time platform facilitation fee
  • Prevent fraud, misuse, and unauthorized activity
  • Enforce product guardrails and state-based availability requirements
  • Monitor performance, improve reliability, and troubleshoot issues
  • Communicate with users regarding account activity or support requests

Sugr does not use personal data for advertising or marketing purposes.

3. How We Share Information

We may share information with trusted service providers only as necessary to operate the App, including:

  • Payment processing and bank-verification providers
  • Identity verification and compliance service providers
  • Cloud infrastructure and hosting providers
  • Analytics, diagnostics, and crash-reporting services

These providers are permitted to process data solely to support Sugr's functionality and are required to protect it.

Sugr does not sell personal or financial data.

Sugr does not report user activity to credit bureaus.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Sugr retains personal information only for as long as necessary to operate the Service, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

Account Data

We retain account information (such as phone number, identity verification status, and connected accounts) for as long as your account remains active.

Transaction and Agreement Data

Repayment agreement and transaction records are retained to:

  • Provide an accurate history to users
  • Comply with financial and legal recordkeeping requirements
  • Prevent fraud and misuse of the Service

Financial transaction records may be retained for up to seven years where required by applicable law or compliance obligations.

Deletion Requests

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting support@sugr.loans.

Upon receiving a deletion request:

  • We will delete or anonymize personal data where legally permitted
  • Certain records may be retained where required by law, regulation, or legitimate business purposes (such as financial transaction records and compliance obligations)

Third-Party Services

Some data is processed and stored by third-party providers (such as Plaid, Dwolla, and Twilio) in accordance with their own privacy policies and legal obligations.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. Data is encrypted in transit, and access is limited to authorized personnel.

7. Children's Privacy

Sugr is intended for individuals 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
